Associate Professor in Materials Physics
The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts
School of Conservation

A new position for an associate professor in materials physics at
the School of Conservation is open to appointment as soon as
possible.

The successful candidate must be a broadly founded physicist with
interest in and knowledge of the properties of polymeric materials,
especially

    *   materials physics-- structure, physical properties and
        applications of organic polymers, including their rheology
        and use in composite materials

    *   methods for testing materials in order to measure physical
        properties, including tensile and compression strength and
        viscosity

The position, which is full time, involves teaching, supervision and
research within the above-mentioned areas.

Applicants must have a PhD degree or the equivalent. In the event
that the applicant fulfills the research requirements for
appointment as associate professor but lacks sufficient teaching
experience, the appointment will be probationary for a period of up
to 1 1/2 years. Should no suitably qualified candidates at associate
professorship level apply, appointment as assistant professor may be
a possibility.

The position is advertised internationally. Thus all
applications--also from Danish applicants--must be in English. A
successful foreign candidate must be able to teach undergraduate
courses in Danish within two years of appointment. Until then
teaching may be in English.

The application must include relevant examination certificates,
curriculum vitae and list of publications together with 3 copies of
up to 5 selected publications as well as documentation of the
applicant's teaching qualifications.

Terms of appointment and salary are set by agreement between the
Ministry of Finance and AC (The Danish Confederation of Professional
Associations). In addition to a salary based on seniority the
successful applicant will receive an annual pensionable increment to
be negotiated.

The School of Conservation welcomes applications from suitably
qualified candidates regardless of age, sex, or ethnic background.

The School of Conservation is an institution of higher education
under the Ministry of Culture, the aim of which is to train
conservators to undertake conservation of our common cultural
heritage. Approximately 100 students are currently enrolled from
bachelor to PhD level and research is conducted  in the field of
conservation science. The School of Conservation employs a total of
approximately 30 staff.
