Principal Conservation Assistants Oxford University Library Services Principal Conservation Assistant Oxford University Library Services Maps/large format/art on paper Technician Grade E: Salary UKP18,409 - UKP20,755 Applications are invited for a paper conservation post within the Department of Preservation and Collections Care for Oxford University Library Services. The post is a permanent, full-time position. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the care and conservation of the significant map collections (approximately 60% of time). Other work will include the conservation of large format material, art on paper, and acting as Duty Conservator as part of the Conservation team. Reporting to the Head of the Conservation Workshop, the post-holder will work closely with the map librarian and relevant curatorial staff. The post is open to anyone with a recognized qualification in paper conservation, or who has at least two years experience in the field. Previous experience in the conservation and preservation of maps, large format material or art on paper, would be an advantage. Professional accreditation is desirable but not essential. The post is a permanent, full-time position. The successful candidate will support the Exhibitions and Loans Officer in the management and delivery of the exhibitions and loans programme, and help to maintain and develop Oxford University Library Services as a centre of excellence in this field. The role will include all aspects of design, selection and installation of internal displays, conservation and mounting of exhibition items, couriering and installation at venues in the UK and overseas, and instruction and training of librarians and colleagues in exhibition techniques and loan management. The post reports to the Exhibitions and Loans Officer. The position is open to anyone with a recognised qualification in paper or book conservation (or equivalent relevant work experience) and at least a further two years relevant work in this field. Previous experience with the preservation and conservation aspects of exhibitions and loans would be an advantage. Professional accreditation is desirable, but not essential.
