Sculpture conservator Stichting Kroller-Muller Museum (m/f), 36 hours per week Stichting Kroller-Muller Museum is internationally renowned as a museum of modern and contemporary art and is situated in the Hoge Veluwe National Park. The museum has approximately 100 employees. To consolidate its Collections and Presentation Department, the museum seeks to fill the following post as soon as possible: We offer a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of an indefinite extension thereafter. Job Description: The sculpture conservator has responsibility for the optimum condition, conservation and restoration of the collection's 1,450 sculptures (including open-air pieces) and approximately 2,250 items of applied art. The collection's diversity requires the conservator to establish and maintain active contact with specialists and to initiate, supervise and conduct research. The postholder advises on the material care of this part of the collection and is responsible for the management of the sculpture studio. He/she manages two storage technicians and two assistant conservators, and is the co-ordinator of this division of the Collections and Presentation Department. In consultation with the Head of C&P, the sculpture conservator is responsible for policy decisions for his/her division, conforming to the conservation plan and the ethical code of the ICOM-CC. He/she is also responsible for the division's budget. Requirements: * Completed conservation training * Academic working and intellectual approach * Knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of traditional and contemporary materials, proficiency in material and technical research, knowledge of production techniques and international developments within the profession * Practical museum experience * Experience of computer systems (text, image manipulation and databases) * Good knowledge of modern languages (spoken and written) * Good social and leadership qualities * The ability to make and maintain professional contacts The conditions of employment are governed by the CAO Verzelfstandigde Rijksmusea.
