Subject: Yupo paper
It has been brought to my attention that many new publications are being printed on something called "yupo" paper <URL:http://yca.yupo.com/>. It appears to be a plastic or at least a plastic coated surface. Has anyone attempted repairs on this material and do they deviate from standard mends i.e. mulberry paper and PVA or wheat paste? Are there archival concerns or advantages? **** Moderator's comments: There is a FAQ at <URL:http://europe.yupo.com/public/faq/>, which describes Yupo this way: "YUPO is a full line of synthetic printing papers manufactured entirely from polypropylene resins. YUPO contains no wood pulp or other organic materials."
