Position at Tate

From: Sally Spence <sally.spenceley>
Date: Thursday, July 24, 2003
Senior Conservation Technician, Electronic Media
Tate Gallery
Salary: c. UKP17,000

Electronic Media Conservation is part of Sculpture Conservation and
is responsible for works in the collection that have a film, video,
slide, audio or computer based element. It's a role you will enjoy
because of your keen interest in new and old media and display
technologies. This is also a good opportunity, as you can build on
the solid experience you already have in the technical aspects of
art installations.

Based at the Tate Store in Southwark, you will manage the display
equipment pool (which includes organising maintenance and
servicing), organise the storage of media holdings and maintain a
database of the works. In addition to running the workshop area, you
will get to support the conservation activities in the section.

It is a very deadline driven job, you need strong time management
skills. Documentation skills relating to electronic media
installations are a must, and you should have the confidence to deal
with situations presented by new technologies and complex
installations. You also need strong interpersonal skills and good
knowledge of Excel. Basic Photoshop and experience with a 2D drawing
programme are an advantage.

or email sally.spenceley [at] tate__org__uk quoting ref. 3045/CR.

Closing date: August 4, 2003.
