Subject: Seminars on conservation
The National Museums of Scotland and the Scottish Conservation Bureau present the next two seminars of the 2003 summer series: "A different definition of museum." Wednesday August 6, 2003 Linda Carlson, Colorado State University Linda Carlson is Curator of textile collections at Colorado State University and is visiting Scotland as a Quinque fellow. She will explore the unique problems of working in a museum which functions within a university setting. She will discuss the problems and opportunities of the educational mission of the University, concentrating on the activities within the Collection, research, and outreach sections of the Museum. "The British Library--an assessment of the new, flagship building at St Pancras after 5 years". Friday August 29, 2003 Helen Shenton, Deputy Director, Collections Management British Library Helen Shenton will discuss the new, flagship British Library building at St Pancras in London, which has now been open for five years. She will also introduce and discuss two current building projects at the British Library; one a new collection storage facility to be located at Boston Spa in Yorkshire, and the other a new Centre for Conservation that is being developed on the St. Pancras site in London. All seminars start at 2:30pm and are held in the Dunfermline Room of the Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh.
