The following Collections workshops are being offered at the Detroit
Historical Museums in Detroit Michigan.

   "Identification of 19th and Early 20th Century Historic
    Photographic Processes"
    by Ronna Rivers, paper conservator and
    Thomas Featherstone, audio visual reference manager, Reuther
    Library
    Cadillac Cafe
    Detroit Historical Museums
    September 25, 2003
    9am-4pm

        Lecture with historic examples and storage information.
        Participants view examples at 25 to 40x.(Participants should
        provide their own magnification) After seeing examples in
        first half of day, participants identify unknowns in
        afternoon. Written bibliography, supply lists, written
        guidelines for storage specific by process will be provided.
        Cost: Non-DHS Members $100.00; members $90.00. Limit 25
        participants, first come first served.

   "Handling and Cleaning of Paper Collections"
    by Ronna Rivers, paper conservator
    Cadillac Cafe
    Detroit Historical Museums
    October 29, 2003
    9am-4pm

        This is a lecture with slides, demonstrations and handouts.
        Participants should bring 2 collection items to clean and
        are guided through the cleaning.  Participants take home
        written instructions, and supply lists.  Limit 15
        participants. Cost: Non-DHS Members $100.00; members $90.00.
        Limit 25 participants, first come first served. Send check

        This will be a lecture with slides, demonstrations and
        handouts. Participants are divided into groups (by interest
        where possible) and guided through the rehousing of selected
        DHM collections. Participants take home handouts and supply
        lists. Limit 15 participants. Cost: Non-DHS Members $100.00;
        members $90.00. Limit 25 participants,first come first
        served.
