"Fungal Facts: Solving Fungal Problems In Heritage Collections"
led by Mary-Lou Florian, author of the recent Archetype publication
of the same name

Topics covered on the course include :

    relevant fungi
    their classification and nomenclature
    where do the fungi come from?
    the conidium: its importance in causing infestations and
    prevention
    germination and vegetative growth parameters of fungi
    relationships with water vapor and water
    the key to prevention
    infestation: fungal structures and products
    changes due to an infestation in different materials: paper,
    textiles, protein materials and wood
    review of conservation methods used for removal of fungal
    structure on infested material
    monitoring the air (bioaerosol) in collection areas
    health hazards of air
    borne fungal structures
    prevention
    disaster preparedness
