Kress Foundation Internship Painting Conservation Tate, London Tate in London houses the National Collection of British and Modern international art. The aim of Tate is to increase public awareness, understanding and appreciation of British art from the 16th Century to the present day, and of 20th Century international painting and sculpture. Tate is offering a work experience placement beginning in September 2003 for 12 months funded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. The successful applicant will assist with the examination, treatment and documentation of the Collection wanted for display and loan. This will include condition checking and preparation of paintings. Applicants must be a citizen of the USA, eligible to obtain a United Kingdom work experience permit (WP2), and have a Masters Degree in Art Conservation. The internship stipend is $18,000 paid in pounds sterling at monthly intervals, plus an additional $2000 research-related travel allowance.
