Conservation Officer Temporary Post up to May 31, 2004 Salary up to UKP21749 per annum The Horniman Museum is offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to work in the Collections Conservation and Care Section and to participate in a wide range of Museum projects. Currently the Museum is working towards two new temporary exhibitions, on the Americas, 'From Amazon to Caribbean' and a textile display arising out of a DCF funded storage project for the reserve collections of textiles and costume. The Section is responsible for the conservation and care of the Museum's collections of Ethnography, Musical Instruments and Natural History. The collections are used to illustrate the world we live in--our cultures, arts, crafts, music and natural environment. The Museum is set in sixteen acres of beautiful gardens in Forest Hill, South East London. Applicants should have a minimum of two years' post qualification practical experience in the care, documentation and treatment of a wide range of objects in museum environment.
