Archaeological Conservator (One year temporary position)
Department of Archaeology, Tromso Museum, Norway

The Dept. of Archaeology, Tromso Museum is seeking applicants for a
1 year temporary position as archaeological conservator beginning
September 1, 2003.

The position is based at the Dept. of Archaeology Culture Historical
Laboratory and involves conservation of archaeological material from
archaeological excavations in North Norway. This material includes
objects of metal, wood, bone, leather, textiles, ceramics, various
types of rock, etc. Work tasks consist of investigation, analysis,
documentation and conservation of objects from all of these object
classes. The position may also involve work related to external
exhibitions and loans. The successful candidate must be able to work
independently, show initiative and cooperate with others.

Minimum qualifications: Completion of a certified 3-year program in
conservation of archaeological and cultural historical material.
Relevant experience within archaeological conservation.

The position has a yearly gross salary ranging from NOK 240,300 to
285,000 depending on previous experience.
