Presentations on electronic media available

Three presentations from the AIC Electronic Media Group meeting
which occurred on June 8, 2003, are now available online.

Fred Byer's presentation titled "The Care, Handling, and Longevity
of Optical Media: Current Research at NIST" can be found at this
URL: <URL:http://www.itl.nist.gov/div895/carefordisc/>. Also at this
URL is a link to the recently published guide "Care and Handling
Guide for the Preservation of CDs and DVDs", produced by the Council
on Library and Information Resources and the National Institute of
Standards and Technology.

Carl Fleischhauer's talk on The Library of Congress Audio-Visual
Prototyping Project is accessible in the form of a PowerPoint slide
show at this URL:

leave it there for interested readers for eight or ten weeks. Anyone
is welcome to open or download it, but since it will not remain
there permanently, Carl asks that people not place links on open web
pages.  He also reports that a talk he gave earlier this year at the
National Archives conference on digital vs. analog technology in
preservation reformatting may be accessed at:
