The Historical Society of Pennsylvania seeks two full-time Project
Preservation Technicians for a two-year, grant-funded project
focusing on the Society's most important and most endangered
collections.  The Project Preservation Technicians will be part of a
team that will preserve and make accessible those collections that
have been designated as having a high research value and are in poor
condition.

These positions will report to the Project Preservation Officer.

Specific Responsibilities: The Project Preservation Technicians'
primary duties will be to preserve, conserve, and rehouse
manuscripts and archival material as stipulated by the funding
agency.  These positions also entail thoroughly documenting the
preservation work completed for the project and performing other
duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: The Project Preservation Technician positions
require a bachelor's degree in an art-related field or equivalent
work experience and familiarity with the principles of preservation.
The ideal candidates should have prior experience with paper
conservation and book repair, as well as coursework in preservation.
Excellent hand skills and the ability to work as part of a team are
essential.  Good time management and organizational skills are also
required.

These are full-time (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday), limited-term
(2-year) positions.  The salary is a minimum of $27,500 with
competitive benefits (including 11 paid holidays, 12 vacation days,
6 personal days, a cafeteria-style medical and dental plan, and
TIAA-CREF retirement plan). The positions will begin on or after
