Repair cloth for album hinges

From: Elisabeth Carr <e.carr>

I am working on a photo album with cloth hinged stubs. The cloth of
a bleached open weave cotton filled with calcium carbonate or
similar and has deteriorated so much that it needs to be replaced. I
am thinking of using aeroplane linen sized with methyl cellulose but
am unhappy about the colour. Does anyone have any suggestion for an
alternative cloth that could be used for the hinge structure?
