Assistant/Associate Objects Conservator,
Griswold Conservation Associates, LLC

Griswold Conservation Associates (GCA), an established objects and
architectural materials conservation firm in the greater Los Angeles
area, seeks applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate
Objects Conservator.  The successful applicant will join our
four-member staff, and will assist with bench and field conservation
treatments, assessments, surveys, and documentation of sculpture,
artifacts, monuments and architectural materials. The opening is a
full-time position in our conservation facility in North Hollywood,
California, USA.

Responsibilities: The Assistant or Associate Conservator is
responsible for the treatment of a wide variety of three-dimensional
objects, including ancient through contemporary sculpture, historic
artifacts, and architectural features. The Assistant/Associate
Conservator may supervise and train interns and technicians. Some
limited out-of-town site work will be required.

Qualifications: We require a Bachelor's degree plus a Master's
degree from a recognized conservation training program with a
minimum of three years post-graduate experience in objects and/or
architectural materials conservation; or a Bachelor's degree with
advanced formal training and extensive experience in objects and/or
architectural materials conservation. Experience with outdoor
sculpture a plus. The applicant must have excellent manual skills
and color matching ability for loss compensation, and outstanding
written and oral communication skills. The applicant must be able to
work well alone and with colleagues, be able to work efficiently
while maintaining conservation standards, and be willing to become
certified in specialized equipment operation such as forklifts, boom
lifts, etc.
