Associate Objects Conservator
Biltmore Estate

Biltmore Estate, in Asheville, North Carolina, invites applicants
for the position of Associate Objects Conservator.   The Associate
Conservator reports to the Conservation Manager of the Museum
Services Department. Responsibilities include examination, technical
analysis, conservation research, treatment, and documentation of a
wide variety of objects; assisting with preventive conservation
measures, training of other Biltmore staff and emergency
preparedness, planning and response; responding to emergency
collection incidents; and participating in other departmental
activities.  The candidate must be able to work independently within
their specialty as well as contribute to the department's overall
goals. This is a year-round, full-time position. Salary is based on
experience.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree and a graduate
degree from a recognized conservation training program, or
equivalent training. Applicants with all levels of experience will
be considered.  Candidates are required to have excellent
interpersonal skills, and a well-developed ability to work as part
of a team that includes curators, registrars and archivists.  The
candidate must be computer literate, have excellent written and
verbal communication, photography and creative problem solving
skills.
