Melanie Gifford, Ian Donald MacLeod, Tim Padfield, Alice Boccia Paterakis, Clifford Price and John Winter Reviews in Conservation is an annual journal published by the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works. It aims to provide comprehensive coverage of literature in key areas of conservation and technical examination. Papers are welcomed on all disciplines relevant to conservation, including practical treatment, materials, technical art history, scientific research, conservation ethics, etc. As a review journal, each paper offers a critical overview of what is published, surveying the current state of knowledge that exists within any given field while suggesting directions for future research. Papers recommended for publication by the Editorial Board, who include conservators and scientists from around the world, will be peer-reviewed. In addition, from 2004, papers will be posted on the IIC web site for a period of pre-publication "open" review. The journal comprises six to eight papers and each author is paid a fee of UKP350. At up to 8,000 words, it is intended to provide an opportunity to write something rather longer than is possible in most conservation publications. Call for papers: The Editor invites offers of original unpublished contributions.
