New York Conservation Foundation and Eastern Analytical Symposium announce their collaborative educational program, the 10th (!) Conservation Science Annual, November 17 and 18, 2003. The CSA is a regular part of the EAS annual, a four-day international professional meeting on analytical chemistry <URL:http://www.eas.org> held in Somerset, New Jersey, USA Nov. 17-20, 2003. The conservation science sessions: Monday, November 17, 2003 "Application of X-ray Related Analytical Techniques in the Conservation of Cultural Materials," two sessions organized and chaired by Matija Strlic, University of Ljubljana, and Jana Kolar, National and University Library, both of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Tuesday, November 18, 2003 "The Deterioration of Inorganic Artifacts," organized and chaired by Gerhard Eggert, Academy of Art and Design, Stuttgart, Germany "Colorants, Pigments and Dyes," organized and chaired by Jennifer Giaccai, Freer Gallery of Art/Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Smithsonian Institution. These sessions are for all conservation professionals, and the EAS 2003 Program includes sixty more sessions worth noting, especially: the Symposium Honoring the 75th anniversary of the Discovery of the Raman Effect (4 sessions), the Coblenz Society's two sessions on Spectroscopic Imaging (multispectral imaging is BIG in conservation science now), and the New York Microscopical Society's Ernst Abbe Memorial Award Symposium on Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy and (2) sessions on Industrial Microscopy.
