Project Conservator Temporary Position, June 30-August 29, 2003 Glass Plate Negative Preservation Project The National Archives of Scotland, Edinburgh UKP14,603 The National Archives of Scotland (NAS) is a Government Department that has responsibility for selecting, preserving and making available the public records of Scotland including extensive photographic collections. This project seeks to recruit 2 casual short-term posts to clean and re-house glass plates in preparation for transfer into custom storage. Working with the staff of the Conservation Section and based in West Edinburgh you will be responsible for ensuring that the project work is completed and delivered to standard. These positions would suit mid degree conservation students or newly graduated conservators. You will have an appreciation of the preservation needs of glass photographic collections and good handling skills, flexibility and good communication skills, and ability to work both in a team situation and unsupervised an acceptable level of computer literacy desirable. Sense of humour essential. This work will be undertaken within the collection stores. This appointment is non pensionable. Applications from candidates who wish to work part-time or on a job-share basis will be considered. Salary will be UKP14,603 pro rata. A flexible working hours system is in operation.
