Paper Conservation Technician-International Programmes
    Approximately 5 month fixed term contract working 3 days per
    week until end October 2003.
Tate Conservation Department

Starting salary: #8,300 - 8,515 per annum
(pro rata to the full time equivalent of #13,833- #14,191)
Band 2

Covering for maternity leave, you will provide assistance to
existing technical staff in preparing artworks for International
Programmes loans.

Duties will include framing, mounting, housing and supporting art
works on paper including constructing new bespoke frames as well as
repairing and modifying existing ones.  Your role will also require
you to assist Paper Conservators with day-to-day departmental tasks.

The successful candidate should have practical experience of frame
making, picture framing and mounting as well as experience in using
hand and power tools and woodwork machinery. Knowledge and
experience of conservation standards particularly in relation to
handling valuable works on paper, is also essential. You should be
able to prioritise a varied workload and work accurately under
pressure to meet deadlines. Previous experience of working with a
museum or gallery collection would be advantageous.
