Applications are invited for this permanent post in the Department
of Collections (Conservation and Analytical Research), based at the
Granton Research Centre, Edinburgh. The salary range is between
UKP15,049 and UKP22,678 (rising to UKP16,604-UKP23,245 on 1 August
2003). Salary on appointment will be subject to qualifications and
experience.

Working as a key member of a small team, you will undertake
specialist conservation work on the scientific, horological, small
mechanical and other mixed media parts of the technological
collections. You will, ideally, have a recognised conservation
qualification as well as demonstrable experience in working on
scientific and technological material. Candidates without formal
conservation training, but who have directly relevant experience,
will be considered and if appointed, may be expected to undertake
further training. As well as a high level of practical ability, you
must be able to maintain good quality work to meet deadlines and be
able to estimate, record and document work undertaken. Good
communication skills, self motivation and team spirit are important
attributes. You will be required to work at any of the museum sites.
A driving licence is required.
