Workshop on risk Management
Brisbane: Monday May 26, 2003
Sydney: Tuesday May 27, 2003

An examination of risk analysis, mitigation and the application of
the Australian/New Zealand standard and other tools, particularly in
relation to libraries and other organisations whose services depend
in part on collections.

Benefits: Participants will leave with an understanding of how to
look at risks to their operations more objectively and take
reasonable action to minimise them. They will also leave with an
action plan so that what has been learnt can start to be put into
practice. Enrolment includes training materials, lunch and morning
and afternoon teas.

The course is suitable for managers in libraries, archives, museums
and other similar bodies and risk managers in their parent bodies.

About the presenter: Jeavons Baillie has been training librarians,
archivists and museum personnel in disaster preparedness with CAVAL
for thirteen years. Participants in his courses have consistently
found them thought provoking, practical and left with strategies for
making progress in their own institution.

Jeavons Baillie set up his own business in 1997 providing
consultancy services and training for libraries, museums, archives,
records repositories, etc. relating to risk management,
preservation, disaster recovery planning and training, collection
relocation, architectural and system design.

His career has been devoted to managing preservation in libraries
and archives. He has shown a wider interest in museums through board
membership of professional museum bodies in Australia and New
Zealand as well as conservation organizations.

Special notes: Participants should bring copies of strategic and
business plans, insurance policies and any other planning documents
relevant to their own activity--as many as possible but at least
one.

Cost: $440 ($396 for CAVAL and Individual ALIA members) includes
lunch.
