Subject: Books on pest management
Mark Ryan <mryan [at] plainsart__org> writes >I've recently been looking at purchasing a book related to museum >pest control for an art museum. ... I have two excellent books that I use to identify insects within our institution. The first is called George C. McGavin Insects Spiders and other Terrestrial Arthropods Published by Dorling Kindersley ISBN 0-7894-5337-1 $18.95 USD The second is specifically relevant to your geographical region Hugh Philip and Ernest Mengersen. Insect Pests of the Prairies. Published by the University of Alberta ISBN 0-88864-870-7 Approximately $21CDN While neither are specific to museums, they have been a great help to me. The pictures in both books are excellent and all in full colour. Some have pictures of the pest in all of its life stages. It also gives its habitats, what it eats, the damage it causes and control suggestions.
