Art of the Ancient World (Egyptian Section)
Summer 2003

We are currently seeking summer interns to assist with a
cataloguing, re-housing and inventory project of Egyptian and Nubian
artifacts in preparation for reorganization of the storage area of
the Department of Art of the Ancient World.

This Department serves as a repository of art from ancient Egypt,
Nubia, the Near East, Greece, Etruria, and Rome. The collection, one
of the largest and most encyclopedic in the United States, contains
approximately 75,000 objects.

Responsibilities:

    *   Inventory of collections in storage
    *   Assisting in identifying, re-housing and labeling objects
    *   Entering descriptions and storage locations for Egyptian and
        Nubian objects into a collections management database
    *   Filing object cards and photographs
    *   Helping to transport objects within the museum

Qualifications:

    *   Ability to handle delicate objects
    *   Careful attention to detail
    *   Training or experience in art, archaeology, museum studies
        or related field
    *   Familiarity with computers, especially database programs
    *   Reliability
    *   Ability to commit form 17 to 35 hours per week
    *   Able to work as part of a team

        participate as an intern at the Museum of Fine Arts.
