Soft solders on silver

Currently I'm executing research, as part of my final thesis in
the metals restoration course at the Netherlands Institute for
Cultural Heritage in Amsterdam, on soft-solders (Tin-Lead) on silver
(sterling). Any information (experience or literature references) on
the use of soft-solders on silver objects, removal of soft-solders,
damage (embrittlement and fretting of the solder into the silver)
and current treatments are welcome.
