IPC library

The Institute of Paper Conservation Chantry Library

The Institute of Paper Conservation's Chantry Library is now up and
running. Our collection includes books on subjects such as art
history, book binding, book history, collection care, conservation,
paper history, printing and reprographics. There are current
subscriptions to over 150 major conservation journals available in
print format and further access is provided through Oxford Library
Platform to a large number of electronic journals and other
non-print resources: <URL:http://www.bodley.ox.ac.uk/oxlip/>

Records for all Library materials are available online via the
Oxford University Library System (OLIS)
(<URL:http://www.lib.ox.ac.uk/olis/>). Books and periodicals appear
under Magdalen College and are marked IPC, followed by the shelf
mark. We continue to add further titles as cataloguing progresses.
There are two types of search interfaces available:

    *   GeoWeb: <URL:http://library.ox.ac.uk>
    *   OPAC:   <URL:telnet://library.ox.ac.uk>

To begin a GeoWeb session, either go to
<URL:http://library.ox.ac.uk> or click on the link OLIS on the
Chantry Library web site. For example, a search for Early Bindings
in Paper would be:

    1.  select Connect to GeoWeb
    2.  click on Connect to OLIS
    3.  select  Both Oxford OLIS and Bodleian  Pre-1920 Catalogues
    4.  browse by title, author, subject, place of  publication,
        etc.

Copies of articles can be obtained from the Librarian.  Articles are
currently sent by post but arrangements for sending them by e-mail
are in progress.  To order : write, telephone or e mail the
Librarian.

    UKP4.50 postage overseas

Payment: Credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Switch). Cheque (sterling
only) payable to 'IPC Chantry Library'.

Visits: Members are welcome to visit during Library hours but please
telephone the Librarian for an appointment.
