Post-Graduate Fellowships in Conservation Smithsonian Center for Materials Research and Education (SCMRE) The Smithsonian Center for Materials Research and Education and the Office of Fellowships are offering three fellowships in conservation at Smithsonian Institution museum conservation laboratories listed below. In the museum of their choice, successful applicants will work for a year with senior staff conservators on Smithsonian collections. Fellows will combine this work with a research project guided both by their supervisor and SCMRE staff. Application Procedure: Applicants are strongly urged to contact the head of conservation at the museum(s) that interest them to familiarize themselves with the programs and possibilities at that museum. Applicants may wish to discuss with the conservators a mutually feasible starting date, which can vary from one museum to another. To SCMRE, applicants should send a cover letter indicating their area of specialization and possible research interests along with a resume and transcript. Two letters of reference are mandatory; a third letter of support is encouraged.
