Subject: Specifications for permanent paper
Does anyone know where to get reliable information on specifications for archival quality paper, like those listed at <URL:http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/byorg/abbey/napp/std.html> : pH alkaline reserve(CaCO3 equivalent) tear resistance lignin content I don't have yet access to the full text of North American Permanent Papers, but it looks like the information contained therein is often grossly incomplete. This is all the book has to say about the brand similar to that we are using most often for preservation photocopying: Fox River Paper Co.: Howard Permalife Bond and Ledger are both watermarked as Permalife. They are also both 25% cotton. Call 800-558-8327 I also have an impression that manufacturers tend to suppress this information because it is not in their best interests to disclose it.
