Subject: Fishing flies
Has anyone had any experience with the preservation of fishing flies and the paper packets they come in. This enquiry is placed on behalf of a collector with many thousand rare flies. Most of the collection is still in the original paper wrappers and the collector is looking for the best way to preserve both the original wrappers and the flies themselves which combine metal and original feathers. The collector is concerned about the ethical issues of removing the flies from their original wrappers. Most of the salmon flies date back to the late 19th century.
