Subject: PARS Discussion Group
PARS DG American Library Association Midwinter Meeting Loews Commonwealth C Sunday, January 26, 2003 4:30 pm Topics: A. Publication Ever wonder why there are so few preservation-related articles in Library Resources and Technical Services? Well, so has John Budd, Editor and Chair of LRTS. John will discuss issues about the publication and its role within ALCTS as well as attempt to gather information from us about why publications submitted in acquisitions, collection management, preservation, and serials are so few and far between. B. Ergonomics in Preservation and Conservation Workspaces Shawn Tonner of Library Building and Renovation Management will be leading a discussion about ergonomics in the workspace. Shawn is a librarian by training and has worked as a library building consultant (primarily in academic libraries) for the last seven years. Shawn says that, "Like your members and all those involved in work place redesign, I continue to struggle with the human factor and ergonomic issues that seem to continue to plague us. For every fact, there seems to be an equal and opposite truth." This forum will provide us with the opportunity to discuss information about ergonomics with an individual intimately involved in incorporating ergonomics within the workspace.
