Vellum

Can anyone advise on a vellum document, stained by acid burns due to
its having been glued to a card support that contained acidic
substances?

A few years ago the vellum document was removed from this acidic
support and was carefully positioned between glass and acid
resistant card and reframed in an attempt to stabilise the staining.
However over a space of seven years the reaction has continued
resulting in a more extensive staining of the document. Does anyone
have any ideas as to how the process may be further arrested or
whether the stains could be removed or reduced from the vellum
document?
