Silicone rubber as an adhesive

Emily O'Brien asks about how to remove silicone rubber from
ceramics.

I emphasise that I have not tried this product, and have no idea of
its compatibility with archaeological ceramics, but Merck sell a
substance called Digesil NC which is a digestant for cured silicone
elastomer and rubber. It is claimed to have low odour and low
toxicity, and to be free from CFCs, aromatic and chlorinated
solvents. This could be worth investigating.
