This position offers an opportunity for an appropriately qualified
person to establish a paintings conservation facility within the new
Christchurch Art and which opens formally in May, 2003.

The Conservator (Paintings) reports to the Collections Manager, and
the position's key responsibilities are managing and maintaining
painting conservation services:

    *   to ensure the professional care and protection of all
        paintings within the Gallery

    *   to manage the oil painting conservation laboratory and
        related budgets

    *   to monitor all painting conservation requirements for
        touring exhibitions

Applicants must have a tertiary qualification in painting
conservation (eg BSc and/or Dip Cons.), have proven experience in an
art museum or similar cultural institution, and have excellent
organisational skills.
