National Museum of the American Indian

The National Museum of the American Indian currently has several
openings for Museum Technician, GS 5/7, working on the move of
collections from the Research Branch in the Bronx, NY to the
Cultural Resource Center in Suitland, MD. The current positions are
for the Bronx move office.

Candidates with experience in Registration, Digital Imaging,
Collections Management, Object Packing and/or Conservation will be
considered. Interest and/or background working with ethnographic and
archeological collections and the material culture of indigenous
peoples of North, South and Central America will be especially
welcome. Recent graduates from, and students currently enrolled in,
a conservation graduate program are encouraged to enquire and apply.
Among other skills, successful applicants with a conservation
orientation will develop experience in condition assessment, object
handling, cleaning and pest management for a wide array of materials
and artifacts.

The current position announcement is open until Dec 31, 2002,
however there is an early cut-off date of Nov. 7, 2002. Applications
