West Dean College - Open Day
Wednesday, February 5, 2003
9:30 to 3:00

Conservation and restoration of Antique clocks, antique furniture,
books, ceramics, fine metalwork

An Open Day will be held at West Dean College, Chichester, England,
on Wednesday 5 February 2003, 9:30 to 3:00. This will be an ideal
opportunity for prospective students to visit the purpose-built
conservation and restoration workshops and to meet with current
students and tutors on an informal basis. There will also be tours
of the exceptional student accommodation and staff will be available
to offer funding and admission advice.

West Dean College, an internationally renowned centre for specialist
training in conservation and restoration, offers graduate,
postgraduate and professional development diplomas in the
conservation and restoration of books and library materials,
ceramics and related materials, antique clocks, fine metalwork and
antique furniture. These programmes are recognised by leading
public and private sector organisations for their high quality
resources and advanced level skills. Postgraduate diplomas are
validated by the University of Sussex.

The small number of students per course allows for a high level of
personal tuition. In addition to achieving a high level of
practical skill, students are expected to acquire a comprehensive
theoretical and historical knowledge of their subject. Students
learn by working on objects of historical importance from museums
and private collections.
