The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center
<URL:http://www.mashantucket.com/> is seeking a Head Conservator
with a specialization in archaeological conservation. Applicants
should have a graduate degree in conservation or equivalent training
and several years of working experience in a museum environment.
Experience in the examination and conservation of archaeological
objects including metals, glass, textiles and organic material
desired. The Head Conservator must have the ability to carry out
projects both independently and in collaboration with colleagues in
other departments.

The Head Conservator will have the responsibility for all aspects of
the care of the ethnographic and archaeological objects in the
museum's collections. The position will involve treatment of
historic period archaeological objects from ongoing excavations,
research, the supervision of specialized projects, monitoring of
environmental conditions, and evaluation of preservation concerns in
exhibition design as well as collection storage. Familiarity with
X-radiography and polarized light microscopy desirable.
