Position at National Museums of Scotland

From: Nicola Galloway <n.galloway>
Date: Tuesday, July 2, 2002
Museum Scientist
National Museums of Scotland

Applications are invited for this 50 week casual contract post based
in the Department of Conservation and Analytical Research, Royal
Museum, Chambers Street, Edinburgh <URL:http://www.nms.ac.uk>.
Salary will be c.#17,000 p.a. (pro rata) depending on qualifications
and experience.

An analytical scientist is required to investigate the technology
and composition of objects from NMS's historical and archaeological
collections using XRF, SEM and other analytical methods. The main
work will involve the non-destructive analysis of metals and
inorganic materials to answer questions of identification, date,
condition and provenance. In addition to this "service" work, more
in-depth study of the collection is anticipated. You will be an able

archaeological collections. An excellent communicator, you will be
keen to form part of a small specialist team.

returned by Friday 16 August 2002, may be obtained from
