Position at Museum Conservation Services Ltd

From: Nicholas Burnett <mcs>
Date: Tuesday, June 11, 2002
Conservator of works of art on paper
Museum Conservation Services Ltd

Museum Conservation Services Ltd
<URL:>has a vacancy for a conservator
specialising in works of art on paper. We are seeking a paper
conservator with a relevant qualification and ideally some
post-qualification experience.

Our studio was originally set up twenty-five years ago as part of a
regional museum service. We were refounded as a private company in
1995. We continue to work almost exclusively for museums/public
institutions and to museum standards. Thus experience within a
museum would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will work alongside four other conservators
in our spacious and superbly equipped conservation studio situated
in Cambridge, England. We are looking for a 'bench conservator' who
is happy to be mainly involved in practical conservation work. The
work is varied, interesting and at times challenging. The range of
material includes watercolours, drawings, prints, pastels and
manuscript maps. The studio also undertakes some work on historic
photographs and occasionally on archives. Site visits for
survey/advisory work may also be required. Motivation and commitment
are essential.

The post is full time with an initial contract of one and a half
years (extendable).

To apply send a CV (including current salary) to either Nicholas
Burnett or Richard Farleigh at:

    Museums Conservation Services Ltd
    Building 213
    Imperial War Museum Duxford
    Cambridge CB2 4QR
    United Kingdom
    mcs [at] paperconservation__co__uk

Deadline for applications: 30th of June 2002.
The successful candidate must be eligible for employment in the UK.
