"Photography and Glass" is a course is for conservators. The number
of participants is restricted to ten.

The aim of the course is to enable participants to identify
glass-based photographic processes and learn about associated
structures of cased photographs and photographs in passe-partout.
Participants will also learn suitable ways of treating these
processes and structures.

The processes covered will be wet collodion negatives, gelatin glass
plate negatives, wet collodion positives, autochromes, lantern
slides and opaltypes. Daguerreotypes and wet collodion positives
will be covered with respect to cases and passe-partout.

The first day of the course will cover historical and scientific
theory and the second day will enable the participants to develop
practical experience in the appropriate conservation techniques. The
practical teaching will include repairing broken glass negatives and
making facsimile decorative cover glasses.

Costs: UKP178 for SoA members / UKP200 for non-members
