Subject: Bronze bell

Bronze bell

I have received a question the other day about rehanging a town
bell. The bell is bronze, very large (about 3 feet in diameter) and
in good condition. It was hung in the town bell tower and until the
70's was evidently still in use. The tower had to be dismantled for
some reason and the bell has been sitting out of doors since then
(in Southeast Alaska where it is very wet). Does anyone (especially
outdoor sculpture conservators) have any thoughts on the subject of
rehanging this bell and putting it back into service?
