Instructor: Lynn Amlie, Director and Paper Specialist
June 17-21, 2002
10am - 5pm

Spaces are still available for our upcoming workshop. We encourage
conservators, and all those with an interest in historic handmade
papers to apply.

This intensive, non-credit workshop will introduce the production
techniques developed and utilized by the UICB paper facility to make
traditional European style book and case papers. Beginning with
analysis of historical specimens, we will explore the materials,
techniques and aesthetics which were characteristic of 15th-18th
century papers.

The course is appropriate for individuals with specific interest in
the history, tradition and production of historic western papers.
Prior experience in western papermaking is required. Space is
limited to 9 participants who will be selected by the instructor
based upon prior experience and commitment. Professionals from
related fields are encouraged to apply.

Cost for the workshop will be $350 for students and $400 for all
others, plus a $50 materials fee. Contact the UICB office for more
information, and an application: <handmade-paper [at] uiowa__edu>
