Mural

My Girl Scout troop has been asked to paint a mural on our
elementary school's trash surround. The trash surround is of course
outside (completely exposed), very rickety and apparently made from
old wood siding. At least it only snows in Sonoma County about once
every 50 years! Looking towards having the Scouts' efforts last more
than 5 years, what surface/substrate should the mural be painted on
(that will be attached flush (or not?) to the the surround with
which kind of screws), what should the surface/substrate be prepped
with, what kind of paints should they use, and any sealer? I wish I
could offer Girl Scout cookies as an incentive but we are all sold
out :-)
