Northumbria at Newcastle, Conservation of Fine Art Program, U.K.

This one-day workshop is hosted by the Graphics Conservation
Laboratory, Department of Preservation and Conservation, Cornell
University Library. The workshop will focus on the following:

    *   Pulping of losses with various shapes and dimensions

    *   Choosing old and new papers for making pulp

    *   Pulp preparation techniques

    *   Choosing dyes (e.g. Yashi cones, Sumi ink, etc.) and
        mordants (e.g. Shikou, Akane, Gobaishi, etc.)

    *   Pulping on suction table/disk

    *   Sizing after pulping (e.g. Seaweed mucilage, gelatin,
        starch, etc.)

    *   Drying techniques (including textural effects)

On the day following the workshop, participants are invited to tour:
the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, the Division of Rare and
Manuscripts Collections  (Kroch Library), and the Department of
Preservation and Conservation book and photograph conservation
facilities. The workshop is limited to eight participants.

Cost: $120.00 including materials, due upon registration.
