Position at Historic Royal Palaces

From: Sophie Julien <sophie.julien>
Date: Wednesday, April 10, 2002
Conservation Housekeeper
Historic Royal Palaces
Starting Salary UKP13,676 - UKP15492 + benefits

Historic Royal Palaces is the organisation responsible for
conserving, maintaining and presenting some of the world's most
famous heritage sites including the Tower of London, Hampton Court
Palace, Kew Palace and the Banqueting House, Whitehall.

We have vacancies for three permanent Conservation Housekeepers to
care for and preserve the many priceless artefacts, furniture and
other treasures these properties contain.

Based at either Hampton Court Palace or Kensington Palace, you will
be part of a team of conservation-trained staff that undertake daily
cleaning and safeguarding routines, and preventive conservation
duties, including environmental monitoring, pest control management
and regular condition recording.

This is an ideal position for a recent graduate from a recognised
conservation-training programme, who wishes to build on their
knowledge of passive conservation by gaining practical experience
working in a delicate heritage environment. An ability to work at
heights is essential and lifting and artefact cleaning work is
daily, so you will need good manual dexterity and must be reasonably
fit. You will also be able to work in a close team and deliver
under pressure. You must be willing to work some evenings and
weekends and to be posted to any of the organisation's five sites at
short notice.

To apply, please send your CV and covering letter to:

Closing date: 10 April 2002
Please note this closing date has now been extended to 22 April 2002

opportunities employer.

All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. Please
note that travel for interview/relocation costs will not be paid.
