Probably, the most interesting reference on this subject is: Laroque, Claude, "Transparent papers: a technological outline and conservation review", in Reviews in Conservation, 1 (2000): 21-31. It is a very well-made and comprehensive review on this matter. As such, it contains many references and brief but very valuable comments and descriptions. While it does not intend to contain detailed information on each treatment, it is a very good and comprehensive guide to the subject: definitely a must for anyone facing problems with tracing papers.
