The Conservation Unit within Cumbria Archive Service seeks an
archive Conservator to assist the Senior Conservator.  The busy
Unit, based in Carlisle, offers an excellent workspace and the
opportunity for a variety of preservation and conservation work. It
is expanding and developing its role in the county to cover a wide
range of remedial and preventive conservation projects and concerns.
The Unit serves the four public Record Offices in Barrow, Carlisle,
Kendal and Whitehaven, the Records Management Unit in Carlisle and
six Local Studies Libraries. It undertakes work for local museum's
and external clients.

All units of the Archive Service use CAIRS software for the
management of records, archives, preservation and conservation.
Candidates should have the Society of Archivists' Certificate in
Archive Conservation or an acceptable alternative. One to two years'
experience in document conservation and bookbinding and the ability
to drive would be advantageous. Application form and further details
