2002 Summer Internship in Conservation
Milwaukee Public Museum

The Conservation Lab of the Milwaukee Public Museum is offering a
summer internship for a student interested in gaining practical and
professional experience in a natural history museum. The Museum has
a busy exhibition schedule and one of the primary responsibilities
of the intern will be to work with Museum Conservators in all
aspects involved in preparing a collections for scheduled in-house
exhibits and out-going loans.

In addition to exhibition and loan work, a variety of conservation
projects are available that can be tailored to the specific
interests of the intern. Examples of possible projects include:

    * condition survey of approximately 100 WPA paintings
    * condition survey of the Mollusk collection
    * re-house Blashka glass models of invertebrate specimens

Projects involving a student's particular interests may also be
accommodated.

The Museum will know in May if a stipend can be offered; a minimum
8-week commitment is desired. Information about the museum is
available at "<URL:http://www.mpm.edu>".
