Stephen Koob, Glass Conservator, Corning Museum of Glass is giving a
practical course and a seminar, near Orlando, Florida, April
8-12-2002. The 5 day practical course is for conservators, the other
a one day course for all persons who have to handle or care for
glass objects. On the practical course, Stephen Koob is assisted by
John Maseman, Director, South Florida Conservation Center.

Conservation of Glass

    Sydonie Estate House, 45 minutes north from the Orlando airport.

    This practical course covers the the principles and practice of
    historical and archaeological glass cleaning, care, conservation
    and restoration. Discussions centre on aspects of deterioration,
    restoration methods and proper conditions for storage and
    display. Practical sessions include the use and choice of
    techniques and particular materials. The one-day seminar 'Caring
    For Class Objects' (see separate listing) is included in this
    course. The course is aimed at practising glass and other
    conservators and requires a background knowledge in
    conservation.

Caring For Glass - a one day seminar
April 10, 2002

    This one-day set of lectures and discussions held at The
    Jeannette G. and Hugh F. McKean Pavilion in Winter Park, near
    Orlando, Florida and will be conducted by Stephen Koob of the
    Corning Museum of Glass. Particular emphasis is placed on the
    correct and safe methods of handling, cleaning, displaying,
    mounting, lighting, transporting and storing glass objects, with
    an in-depth look at the causes and symptoms of "sick" or
    "crizzling" glasses. This seminar is aimed at those who look
    after glass objects in collections - curators, conservators,
