From: Camille Breeze <camillebreeze>
Date: Wednesday, January 30, 2002
Ancient Peruvian Textiles Workshops will take place in Arequipa,
Peru from June 15 through July 6 at the Universidad Nacional de San
Agustin Museum. A two-week course for beginners will take place
simultaneously with a two-week advanced course for experienced
textile conservators, from June 15 through 28.

The workshops are designed for anyone interested in textiles,
conservation, collections care, archaeology, anthropology, or the
ancient cultures of Peru. Participants will learn about Peruvian
textiles and perform treatment on museum pieces alongside Peruvian
students. A one-week advanced course will also be held from June 28
through July 6 for those who have already taken the two-week course.
Ancient weaving techniques and cultural interpretation are taught by
Jennifer Michel, Professor of Art History at Brooks College of
Design in Long Beach, California. Conservation classes are taught by
Camille Myers Breeze, textile conservator and Professional Associate
of the American Institute for Conservation. Ancient Peruvian
Textiles Workshops have been training Peruvians and Americans
together since 1995.
