Internship
Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory

The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory is offering an
opportunity to participate in a 12 month conservation internship
program from September 1, 2002 until August 30, 2003. The MAC Lab
is Maryland's repository for archaeological collections, and the
intern will have the opportunity to work on materials ranging from
9,000BP to the 20th century. Applicants must be students currently
enrolled in a recognized conservation training program with an
interest in archaeological materials.

The successful applicant will work under the direction of the MAC
Lab's Chief and Lead Conservators on condition assessments,
environmental monitoring, treatment proposals, collection rehousing,
and conservation treatments. There will be opportunities to pursue
personal research topics, and the intern will be required to make a
presentation at the annual Washington Conservation Guild Student
Presentations.

The MAC Lab will provide a stipend of $10,800, which must be matched
by funds from the student's home institution. If the home
institution cannot provide matching funds, other forms of match will
be considered. Please send a cover letter, CV, and three references
